Russia Boosts Film Production And World Sales

February 24, 2011. Moscow. According to RIA Novosti, Russian Minister of Culture Alexander Avdeev announced his plans to boost support of film production and sales of films abroad in 2012.

This year the Ministry of Culture will channel 770 mln Rb ($26,1 mln) to support the production of childrens, debut, documentary, experimental and art-house films. Avdeev plans to ask 20-25 per cent more for the budget of the next year.

Viacheslav Telnov, the former director of Lenfilm Studios, will soon become the director of Film Production Dpt. in the Russian Ministry of Culture.

The Ministry of Culture also intends to reorganize Sovexportfilm for more effective sales and promotion of Russian films abroad. Sovexportfilm will become a non-profit organization like UniFrance or US Motion Picture Association.

    Is there currently funding for collaboration with Western screenplay writers? I have several scripts of various genre but would like to start with a Victorian Family Adventure that has a simple plot.
