2010 Remakes Market: Summary

The Remakes Market

As a follow-up to our information of November 11, 2010 here’s the summary of the event.

Los Angeles, 3 DECEMBER. The mood was upbeat after the inaugural edition of THE REMAKES MARKET, a new niche event that brought together a select group of foreign film, television and book properties right holders and Hollywood based production and development executives looking for adaptation rights.

84 film, television and book properties presented by 31 foreign film and television production companies, and book publishers were showcased for three days at the ANDAZ Hotel in West Hollywood, Ca. Among them were classic film, such as Claude Chabrol’s elegant, suspense features and recent ones released in the USA in their original versions. One of them is The Chorus, recently nominated for The Academy Award™ for Best Foreign Language film.

Some powerful scripted series were also on offer: France’s popular crime and police franchises, as well as ingenious, low-cost, innovative unscripted formats and web series ideas.  Prize-winning novels and popular biographies complement the choice of possible remakes ideas.

Nearly 350 pre-arranged and spontaneous business meetings took place with representatives from 87 television and film production companies. Fox Television Studios, The Weinstein Company, Phoenix Pictures, Quadrant Films, Plan B, Imagine Entertainment, Anonymous Content, Captivate Entertainment, Gunn Films, Tom Welling Productions, 1821 Entertainment and many other major key development and production players were present.

The next edition of 2011 REMAKES MARKET is scheduled for November 14-16, 2011 to be held in Los Angeles, at the same hotel.

THE REMAKES MARKET is organized by BASIC LEAD, the organizers of the DISCOP television content regional markets and THE MEDIA FACULTY, a Paris-based training consultancy.
