French Minister of Culture Frederic Mitterrand announced that he was enthused by the idea of forthcoming project: a Russian-French Film Academy of Motion Picture Arts.
At the conference of The Joint Russian-French Committee To Celebrate the Year of Russia in France and the Year of France in Russia Mitterrand stated, that the Academy is aimed “to boost the production of French-Russian films, the promotion of Russian cinema in France and in Europe, and French films in Russia.”
French Minister of Culture also said, he recently suggested to the Russian Minister of Culture Alexander Avdeyev,
that a special commission should be set up to develop the schedule, program and to work on corresponding legal and financial aspects of this major venture, because state and private funds will be involved.
Frederic Mitterrand revealed that the first film-maker who suggested the idea of the Russian-French Film Academy of Motion Picture Arts was Russian film director Pavel Loungin (Taxi Blues, Luna Park, The Tycoon, The Island, Ivan The Terrible).
