“Sputnik over Poland” Film Festival

«Sputnik over Poland» Film FestivalThe 4th edition of the Russian Film Festival “Sputnik over Poland” presented 160 Russian films (700 screenings) in 34 movie-theatres of Warsaw and other 27 cities. Besides competition program, Russian line-up also offered a selection of women’s films and features for the young audience.

Russian-Polish co-production Not Now / Tylko nie teraz / Tolko ne seychas opened the festival with its film director Valery Pendrakovsky, screenwriter Yuri Rogozin (both from Russia) and Polish producer Piotr Skulski. During the screening the audience enjoyed an excellent performance by Magdalena Lamparska and Antoni Dmochowski.

Among the top-list award-winners were A Room And A Half by Andrey Khrzhanovsky, a fantasy about the imaginary return of Josif Brodski to Saint Petersburg, Me by Igor Voloshin and Bury Me Behind The Plinth by Sergey Snezhkin. The latter also snatched the Special Award based on the votes of the audience and another Special Award of “War And Peace” TV Channel.

Andrzej Żuławski, Anita Piotrowska and Tadeusz Sobolewski were members of the Festival’s official selection jury.

In spring 2011 a program of Polish films will be screened in Moscow, St-Petersburg and other cities of Russia.
