Moscow’s Russian Bear Film Company general producer Yuri Berdnikov has chosen this comedy because his previous feature Swindlers made a successful director’s debut of Maria Mahanko: “I did not expect so many festival awards, mounds of letters, a lot of emails from filmgoers and excellent distribution in Russia. It was very inspiring and I suggested Maria to co-author the script (with Oleg Volkov) and shoot another comedy.” Bernikov believes that family comedies
are of growing demand in Russia.

Troublemaker is a 90-min. dynamic comedy about adventures of the musical producer Egor, who borrowed money from gangster Maximilian for his young talents. He fights against Maximilian and his gangsters. The happy-end is unpredictable and touching “despite lots of adrenaline, pursuits, firing and explosions, but no one is seriously hurt, no blood or violence”, as director Maria Makhanko explains.
