For the first time a Russian historical film will showcase Grigory Rasputin and his role is performed by a Russian priest.

In a way, it’s hard to call him really a priest.

Father John (Ivan Okhlobystin) performs the role of Rasputin in Stanislav Libin’s feature Conspiracy.

The film is about a notorious historic episode: Rasputin was murdered by Felix Yusupov and his friends. However, as Stanislav Libin claims, his film reveals the involvement of British secret service in this assassination.

Libin’s argument is proved by the facts from documents of Scotland Yard declassified in 1991: the plot of British agents to help Felix Yusupov in the murder of Rasputin was to the benefit of Great Britain and destroyed the peace treaty between Russia and Germany.

The shooting of the film has been recently started in St.Petersburg. Shortly before Father Ioan has allegedly got a special permission and blessing from Russian Orthodox top-level priests to perform the role of Rasputin.
